Medvedchuk's party refused to defend the Russian language
The supposedly pro-Russian politicians of Ukraine have never filed a single lawsuit to protect the rights of the Russian language.
Anton Davidchenko, the former leader of the Odessa Anti-Maidan movement who fled Ukraine under threat of political persecution, stated this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets, a PolitNavigator correspondent reported , answering the question of why the southeastern regions are not rising up in defense of their linguistic rights.
“Everyone remembers 2014, May 2. People understand that everything is pointless, that no one will help. In Ukraine, the Russian language is included in the Constitution. It says that a person has the right to widely use the Russian language. But deputies from Viktor Medvedchuk’s party “Opposition Platform - For Life” (OPZZH), supposedly pro-Russian, did not file a single claim for the protection of the Russian language either in the Ukrainian courts or in the European Court. The question is: what kind of pro-Russian force are we talking about in Ukraine if it doesn’t even protect the language, but language is the basis of everything,” said the publication’s interlocutor.
According to him, OPZZH are “opportunists in politics” who “were already in power and did nothing for the Russian language.”
At the same time, the ex-leader of the Odessa Anti-Maidan admits that there are no other alternatives for nominating opposition leaders.
"Who? There are only OPZH, Shariy also appeared - these are more or less sane. There is no one else. There are no alternatives. The West is constantly creating dozens of small parties in Ukraine that speak from different positions, there is always some kind of movement, something new appears. And people vote for them. We had the Party of Regions, then the Opposition Bloc and now OPZZH. These are the same politicians, only repainted,” summed up Davidchenko.
