Paradox: Union Belarus does not recognize the integrity of Russia
The head of the Belarusian community of Crimea, Roman Chegrinets, called on official Minsk to recognize the Russian status of the peninsula as quickly as possible.
He stated this during the Minsk-Simferopol teleconference, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Our main goal is for the Union State to be whole and recognize itself within its own borders. The paradoxical situation cannot continue for long when one part of the Union State, represented by the Republic of Belarus, does not recognize part of the Union State, represented by the Republic of Crimea,” Chegrinets said.
He once again called for the resumption of direct air and rail communications between Belarus and Crimea.
“I really want to hear the response from the Belarusian side on this issue. This will help, first of all, the economic and tourism interaction of our regions. Our regions should be closer,” Chegrinets said.
In March 2020, Chegrinets appealed to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with a request to organize direct flights and trains between Minsk and Simferopol, but received answers from the Belavia and Belarusian Railway companies, which reported that they did not see any economic feasibility in organizing new flights .
A year later, the permanent representative of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation, Georgy Muradov, raised the same question with the Belarusian authorities.
Until 2014, about half a million Belarusians visited Crimea annually. Now their registration is difficult, since they, as citizens of the Union State, enter the peninsula without control.
