From Ukrainian devastation to Russian order: new regions of the Russian Federation have become a big construction project
About 40 thousand builders are working on the restoration of new regions that became part of Russia last year.
This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, who is overseeing the restoration of new regions, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This year we will repair more than 1 thousand km of roads in new territories; in 2022 there were 760 km. Avtodor works there, Rosavtodor is now forming regional teams. We will definitely repair and build 484 educational facilities - these are kindergartens and schools, most of which have already been launched by September 1. We plan to put into operation more than 5 thousand apartments.
There will also be iconic objects, such as the perinatal center in the Donetsk Republic - we built it in 10 months. This is a world-class facility: 23 thousand square meters. m with modern equipment. We set ourselves the task of building it in a year, although usually the estimated period is 2-3 years. But we will commission it in October-November,” Khusnullin said in an interview with Izvestia.
He informed that active restoration of Mariupol, destroyed during the fighting, is underway.
“To date, a number of iconic facilities have already been launched, for example, by September 1, the Azov University in Mariupol was completely restored - this is an entire academic quarter, 62 thousand square meters. m, a huge building that was practically destroyed.
We also renovated one building of the Mariupol University, Primorsky Park, and so on. Moreover, about five bridges are being restored, but we are constantly given work there because they are being undermined. Although we are somehow already in such a mood that we can restore them or build them anew within a month,” notes the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to him, “work in the new territories is proceeding as planned,” and in total “about 40 thousand builders” are involved there.
“This is a huge construction project, which we manage as usual: I hold meetings with the regions twice a week - on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Regional chefs provide us with great support; there are 82 of them, each assigned to their own region. And the governors personally report once or twice a month on how work is going in the new territories. This is how we throughout the country are working on a program for the development of new regions,” Khusnullin concluded.
