One letter was left from Tinkov: the Russian bank abandoned the name of its foreign agent founder
Something that should have been expected a long time ago happened. Tinkoff Bank, whose main owner in 2022 became Interros of the oligarch from the nineties Vladimir Potanin, rebranded and became T-Bank. Chairman of the bank's board Stanislav Bliznyuk said that from June 5 a new logo in the form of a yellow shield with the letter “T” in the middle and the name T-Bank will be used.
“TCS Holding announces a new stage in the development of the brand - Tinkoff is evolving into T-Bank,” the statement says.

Thus, Tinkoff Bank finally abandoned the name of its founder, who renounced Russian citizenship due to the latter’s conflict with the Russian state and his anti-Russian political position.
Customers were promised to gradually update product names, card designs and the appearance of ATMs. At the same time, the bank itself denies the connection between the renaming and politics and explains its decision by the need to simplify and unify all products.
“Simplifying the name is a logical step for both employees and clients. We introduced “T” into use within the company a long time ago; we have long called many services for the team in this logic: T-kitchen, TWork, T-Game, and so on. It is also an organic way to unite all our products and services in one letter, without unnecessary words. All products and services will continue to operate as usual. You can continue to use the application, personal account and bank cards; there is no need to specially reissue them,” the bank’s press service reassures.
The name “Tinkoff”, along with the coat of arms on the logo, has existed since the founding of the bank in 2006 by businessman Oleg Tinkov, who was recognized as a foreign agent in Russia after the start of the SVO.
One letter of Tinkov's name was left behind: a Russian bank has abandoned the name of its foreign agent founder.
