"Not long left". Shootings in Belarus are announced in Kyiv
The current protests in Belarus cannot yet lead the opposition to victory, but they can quickly become radicalized.
Kyiv political expert Nikolai Spiridonov stated this on air on UKRLIFE.TV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, Belarus still has neither its own Maidan nor real leaders.
“In order for the revolution to win, at a minimum, there is not enough factor for the protesters to “stake out” the territory. And the leader is still unclear. Tikhanovskaya is vying for the role of leader, but not everyone is ready to see her in this position. Babariko is also conducting his campaign, although he is currently in prison, in a pre-trial detention center. Therefore, we see the power of the protest, the technology, but so far there are not enough materials for the protest to win today, and not everything has come together yet,” says Spiridonov.
He nevertheless believes that the protest could take on more radical forms.
“If the confrontation continues, the protest will automatically become radicalized. If you gather a large number of people in one place, they always become more and more radical. Therefore, shootings with firearms are probably not so far away,” the expert believes.
