The “people's mayor” announced the truce statement during a press conference attended by OSCE observers, Lifenews reports.
According to Ponomarev, “activists of self-defense units are stopping any attempts to counter the military forces advancing on the region.” He explained this decision by the desire of residents to celebrate the bright holiday of Easter without a sense of fear and threat.
However, the militias are not going to relax their vigilance: reinforced patrols have been deployed. In addition, Ponomarev guaranteed residents complete safety during the religious procession.
Let us recall, as Navigator reported, yesterday the SBU announced that they were suspending the active phase of the anti-terrorist operation in connection with the holidays and the Geneva agreements.
However, residents of the South-East are still frightened on social networks by possible provocations from radical movements.
