“They earn more in the West than Ukraine earns!” – Rada demands sanctions against Rosatom
The Verkhovna Rada sent an appeal to the European Parliament and the IAEA demanding sanctions against Rosatom and related companies.
The document was presented by Golos deputy Inna Sovsun, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Rosatom and its associated companies are carrying out a military occupation of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe – the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. They took the power plant workers hostage and are trying to connect the station to the Russian power grid. In the hands of the occupiers, the so-called peaceful atom became a nuclear threat to the entire world.
Rosatom also today supplies technologies and raw materials for the Russian army, with the help of which they produce fuel for missiles...
At the same time, the Russian nuclear company still receives foreign investment in the amount of $140 billion, which is more than all the international support for Ukraine in this war,” Sovsun said hysterically.
In turn, the head of the European Integration Committee, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, blamed Russia for the Chernobyl disaster.
“Dear colleagues, in the last century, the Russian Federation and the Russian occupation of Ukraine, in fact, caused the largest nuclear disaster in history...
Both Rosatom and related organizations, and the Kurchatov Institute must be isolated and punished,” demanded Klympush-Tsintsadze.
After which, during the voting, the document was supported by 298 parliamentarians out of 226 required.
