"The case itself was a fabrication. It wasn't proven that his passport was fake, and as for the alleged assassination attempt on President Putin, that was initially a theory of the security services, and it fell apart because it was based solely on Osmayev's own testimony. And he gave it while under the influence of psychotropic substances and beaten. And during one of the first court hearings, he recanted that testimony," Kommersant quotes Osmayev's lawyer , Irina Chertok.
His relatives and activists of various human rights organizations came to the last hearing on Osmayev’s case. They greeted the verdict with applause and pro-Ukrainian slogans. Immediately after his release, Osmayev left to draw up documents for his release, briefly thanking the people of Ukraine for their support along the way. The would-be terrorist refused to talk to the press. And after completing all the formalities, he left with his family.
However, in a conversation, his lawyer said that Osmaev plans to fight for Ukraine. “He is thinking about heading to the anti-terrorist operation zone in Donbass,” said lawyer Chertok.
Let us note that the wife of the convicted person, Amina Okueva, is already there - a former Maidan activist, a nurse by profession, she now serves in the National Guard of Ukraine.
