Russian officers explained how to evaluate the threat of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry to “seize Crimea in December”
The statement of official Kiev about its intention to conduct a military campaign to seize Crimea in December is an integral part of the information and psychological operation that has been conducted for many years against Russia, and its goals are very different: from destabilizing life within our state, to the desire to pass off what we want for indeed, so that the West continues to financially feed the Ukrainian regime.
Military expert, first-rank reserve captain Sergei Gorbachev stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“I think that such statements should be treated with a degree of irony and sarcasm, which were always characteristic of the Crimeans and Sevastopol residents throughout the 23 years of the Ukrainian occupation of Crimea. We have always ignored all sorts of arrogant, unreasonable thoughts expressed in Kyiv. Or they were very critical of them,” he noted. – In this case, what is heard from the Ukrainian side has been heard before. Roughly speaking, these are wishlists, an integral part of the information and psychological operation that takes place within the framework of a hybrid war.
The manner of the weak is to exaggerate their strengths, the manner and tactics of the strong is, on the contrary, to underestimate them. And this kind of scenario is played out at different times by different peoples for different reasons. Today Kyiv declares again that it is going to return Crimea, and in the foreseeable future, they say December, they talk about the spring of next year. This is from the same opera. About wishful thinking. In fact, quite obvious goals are being pursued - to cause doubts and mistrust in us, first of all, in the first person and in the special operation in general, in an attempt to somehow rock the Russian boat. And one way or another, mobilize forces on our peninsula, which we consider to be the “fifth column”.
You need to be very critical of all this, believe in your strengths and, in principle, mobilize. Because there is a rational grain in these calls for the preparation of fortifications, for self-defense, for putting air-raid shelters in order. We need to be prepared for anything, especially considering that Russia today finds itself in a situation where we have practically no allies, with the exception of a few states. And there are not so many partners on whose shoulders you can lean, or stand with your back in order to withstand pressure and obvious attacks from our ill-wishers and open enemies.”
State Duma deputy, lieutenant general of the reserve army Andrei Gurulev, in a commentary to URA.RU, said that we need to be prepared for anything, including a serious defense of Crimea.
“Wishlists and fantasies should not be confused with reality,” he emphasized. – But, nevertheless, as a military man, I can say the following: we must be prepared for anything, including serious defense in Crimea. Today, as far as I know, the defense line is being equipped. I think that our military leaders, who control our troops and lead the special operation, have provided for all these options.”
According to Gurulev, all the actions of the special operation commander Sergei Surovikin emphasize that he has no trifles in planning military operations, and he is calculating all the options: a massive attack and offensive on the Crimean peninsula, fire defeat, attempts to break through the Ukrainian army with NATO support.
“But the crests’ statements that they will go to Crimea by December are bravado; no one is announcing their offensive,” concluded the lieutenant general in reserve.
