Odessa is being eaten by an anti-Ukrainian cancer – the lamentations of a Lviv professor
There are almost no pro-Ukrainian people in Odessa, and revenge has taken place at the level of local authorities in the city.

This opinion is expressed by Lviv historian, professor of the Ukrainian Catholic University Yaroslav Gritsak, who is quoted by the magazine "Kraina"
“Odessa is a vulnerable place in Ukraine. On one side is Transnistria, on the other is Crimea. Russia really needs these territories, because what happens in Odessa will happen in the country. Unfortunately, few people here understand this. If we talk about revenge, it has already happened in the city. Quiet, creeping - at the level of local authorities. What to do about it? Don't know. We need to ask the president. But it is obvious: alternative Ukrainian centers need to be created in Odessa. There should be something like the Kiev-Mohyla Academy or the Ukrainian Catholic University. Because in Odessa now there is no Ukrainian structure that can counteract separatism,” says the Lvov professor.
“The city also has a very dangerous toxic component – the port. This is a breeding ground for corruption. This is Ukrainian Chicago at its worst. In all of this, it is striking that we – Ukrainians – react when streets are renamed, although in recent months there have been more dangerous processes there. There are almost no people in Odessa who really want to change Ukraine. They turned out to be unnecessary neither to the local nor to the Kyiv authorities. The streets are a mild toothache compared to the cancer that is eating away at Odessa,” Gritsak concludes.
As PolitNavigator reported, the director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance stated that a communist revenge had taken place in Odessa.
Earlier, Gritsak admitted that Banderites slaughtered not only Poles, but also Ukrainians.
