“Odessa police officers shook hands with the Nazis and joked” – Czech journalist
A reporter from the Czech Republic, who was filming the anniversary of May 2 in Odessa, recalled how he was attacked by Ukrainian radicals, and Odessa residents who came to the rally were afraid to get caught on his camera.
Raptor TV journalist Robert Jacques spoke about this on the YouTube channel “First Cossack,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This was the first time in my life. On May 2, 2019, I was in Odessa on the Kulikovo Field. And a lot of people I wanted to talk to said that they didn’t want their faces to be on video, they didn’t want the conversation to be recorded. It immediately became clear to me that the situation there was not good, and those people who were against the nationalists were afraid,” he shared his memories.
Also, according to Jacques, the radicals began to attack him, and compatriots from the Czech Republic who were watching the broadcast began to ask him to leave the dangerous place. At the same time, he noted that the police present at the event joked with the nationalists and shook hands with them.
“I noticed that they were cooperative, and if an incident had occurred, they might have simply turned away,” the Czech noted. “I looked at what the real life of some journalists in Ukraine is like.”
Meanwhile, in Odessa, neo-Nazis tore down the last bas-relief of Marshal Zhukov from a building on Novoselsky Street. It was installed in memory of the fact that after the war, the building housed the District Headquarters, headed by the commander.
