Ukraine plans to resettle about two hundred thousand people from the Donetsk region.
This was stated by the Minister for Reintegration, Irina Vereshchuk, on air on the 1+1 TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the official, it is necessary to evacuate immediately, without waiting for hostilities in these territories.
“My call: we need to evacuate, we need to evacuate now, in the warm months, and not wait for the fall, when it will be much more difficult to do this due to the fighting and the fact that we will not be able to provide heat to people in their homes.
More than 200 thousand people need to be evacuated, and many thousands of them are children. We understand that among them there are people with limited mobility, that there are elderly people, women with children, and often these are large families. For such people there are trains, special transport...
The necessity of evacuation is precisely because people are afraid of the unknown, they don’t want to go, they think it will be okay, they think they will wait it out, they are looking for stoves, but they don’t understand that there may be no light and there may not be water. That’s why we are saying to evacuate now, without waiting,” Vereshchuk said.
