Defense companies are fleeing Ukraine to Saudi Arabia and South Africa
Ukraine does not have the money for a powerful rearmament of the army, and its defense enterprises are fleeing abroad.
Valentin Badrak, Director of the Center for Army, Conversion, and Disarmament Studies, announced this at the "New Strategy for Peace and Security" forum held in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“With our army budget, we cannot count on powerful rearmament. Even with the missiles that we are developing today, we will not be able to equip 10 divisions in 5 years, but we really need this. What we really need now is not so much to get weapons like Javelins, but to get political support from the United States in order to independently develop missiles with a range of 1500 km,” the expert said.
According to him, Ukrainian industry is capable of producing such missiles.
“Ukraine needs the depressurization of the monopoly in the defense sector. Ukraine is also losing technology. Today I can already name 4 enterprises that fled Ukraine because of this monopolization. One to Lithuania, one to South Africa, one to Saudi Arabia, one to China,” Badrak said.
