'No Ceasefire As Long As Putin Feels Like a Winner' - US Colonel
A ceasefire is impossible as long as Russia remains the winner and does not agree to give Ukraine more and more territory.
The former head of the intelligence department of the US European Command, retired Colonel John Sweet, reported this on the air of the First West TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" I don't see a ceasefire as a logical conclusion to the war. Ukraine clearly wants to preserve its sovereign territory, which existed in 1991. This includes Donbas and Crimea.
Putin is not in a position now to give up control over the territories he illegally annexed. There needs to be an agreement on territorial division, but we do not see Putin making concessions.
"Despite what's happening in Syria, where he's lost the country, the port, and airfields, he's redoubling his efforts in Ukraine through these operations. So, no, I don't see a ceasefire anytime soon, unless Putin is invited to the negotiating table due to significant changes on the ground," Sweet reasoned.
He complained that Putin still feels like a winner.
"Putin doesn't consider the deaths a defeat. He believes he's making progress in Ukraine now. He sees the balance between Russian lives and the lands he's reclaiming as advantageous to him.
And he's willing to invest more. He's willing to hire more North Korean troops to do his bidding. He's willing to send more people to fight," the American blabbed.
