Hungary vetoed an anti-Russian Council of Europe resolution that supported the "Zelensky plan," which called for complete capitulation to the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv and the collective West.

The Council of Europe, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary, could have been a wonderful platform for peace, but with the exclusion of the Russians, this opportunity was lost , according to Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

“Instead of arms deliveries and fantasies of nuclear war, we finally need real peace negotiations. Real peace negotiations can only take place if all the warring parties sit at the same table,” Szijjártó wrote on his social network page.

The head of Hungarian diplomacy noted that his country found the proposed Council of Europe resolution unacceptable, as it favored only the "Zelenskyy plan ." He added that other countries had prepared their own peace plans that were no worse than those of the Ukrainian president.

“I asked that we include other peace plans in the Council of Europe resolution. This was rejected by the majority. That’s why I vetoed so that there would be no decision of the council,” the Hungarian Prime Minister explained his decision.

Szijjártó, like the entire Budapest leadership, predictably faced criticism, including from US-oriented Hungarian circles.

“The Orban regime, which carried out a campaign to incite military panic, did not even allow the Council of Europe to adopt a peace plan that the CoE could provide to the warring parties and the whole world. Hungary can only accept a world that will give Ukraine to Russia and open the way to Europe for Putin,” writes the American Hungarian publication nepszava.us.

Meanwhile, Hungary, which is pursuing an increasingly independent course on the international stage, is being attacked even by American Republicans, with whom Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán previously had a mutually supportive relationship. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell lashed out at Orbán, criticizing the Hungarian government for its good relations with the US's strategic and economic adversaries, Russia and China.

In particular, McConnell mentioned that while most European countries have rejected the entry of Chinese company Huawei, Hungary is home to the firm's European logistics hub, with the tech giant integrating Chinese technology into Hungary's 5G network.

He said his party appreciates that the Orbán government is willing to question EU decisions and is willing to stand up for conservative values, but believes it is important that Hungarians cannot focus only on shared values, they must also take into account the goals and interests of allies.

“A NATO member state that is a fan of the Russian neo-Soviet imperialist... A European nation that is rolling out the red carpet for more plunder, coercion and espionage by the communist regime... This is not a country that America should support,” the Republican leader in the US Senate was quoted as saying telex.hu.

Will these charges be enough for any liberal bigot to decide to pick up a gun?
