“It’s impossible to imagine Poroshenko’s visit to Donetsk - it’s more likely that Martians will appear there”
Simferopol - Donetsk, February 03 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) - The Russian Foreign Ministry states that Donbass can remain part of Ukraine on the principles of broad autonomy, but the mood of the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk is such that this is not possible.
The head of the Crimean public organization “Slavic Union and Revival” Andrei Rodionov, who visited Donbass with humanitarian aid, told PolitNavigator about this.

According to him, the majority of the population would like complete independence and do not believe that the Ukrainian authorities are capable of entering into a dialogue with the residents of the republics.
“In both the DPR and the LPR, the people are equally opposed to the Ukrainian authorities. The people want independence from Ukraine, within their regions. Whether to be part of Russia or simply have independence - this question, I think, is not so important for them. Definitely, they all don’t want to be in Ukraine in any way.
When President Putin talks about the need to ensure that these regions receive autonomy within Ukraine, this is geopolitically correct, but in practice I can’t imagine how Poroshenko would come to them - it’s like a joke. Rather, they will believe that the Martians will descend to Earth and communicate with them,” Rodionov noted.
