"There is no point" - the Crimean Ministry of Resorts refuses to open representative offices in the regions of the Russian Federation
Large-scale modernization and construction of new hotels in Crimea will begin after the end of the Second World War. For now, the goal is to preserve existing facilities and avoid falling into the red.
This opinion was expressed on air by the former deputy minister of resorts of the republic, Lyudmila Babiy , on Radio Crimea , reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
"The positive trend so far is that small hotel complexes are coming online . They're popping up every year, and despite the costs and potential for failure to break even, they still employ entertainers, create programs, and maintain them year-round. You can't just fire the entertainers at the end of August and then hire them for a few days.
"Or shut down a working pool and then restart it. There's been some progress, but there's been no major increase in either bed capacity or the number of hotels," the expert noted.
According to her, federal programs for the construction of modular hotels and glamping sites expand summer vacation options, but this doesn't apply to winter . A boom in hotel construction and modernization in Crimea will occur with the end of the North-Eastern Military District , and there's no point in opening tourism offices in Russian regions, as the regional Ministry of Resorts and Tourism plans, when a smartphone is all that's needed to make a reservation.
"Now, with the development of the internet and specialized booking resources, it makes no sense for a Crimean travel agency or facility to locate somewhere in Izhevsk. To achieve this, it's enough to have reliable partners who actively promote Crimea . Meanwhile, the share of tourists who independently purchase tours to Crimea or book a hotel or guesthouse is growing every year.
"And the number of travel agencies on domestic routes will decline. Now you can buy a tour while sitting at home with a cup of coffee , simply browsing websites, and you don't need travel agencies or any of their representatives outside of Crimea . We choose everything on our phones – from New Year's decorations to New Year's tours. It's convenient, and this is the future," Babiy concluded.
