Bad weather: Klimkin and EU diplomats were unable to reach Mariupol
Due to difficult weather conditions, the foreign ministers of Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic countries were unable to fly to Mariupol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin.
“Despite difficult weather conditions, we tried to fly to Mariupol. The crew of military helicopters, in conditions of fog and the threat of icing, decided to return to the Dnieper airfield,” the minister wrote on his page on the social network.
He added that a video link would be organized with those who were expecting the ministers in Mariupol.
Klimkin informed that he is with his colleagues in Dnepr: “Now with my colleagues they are already in the hospital named after. Mechnikov in the Dnieper."
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously reported that Pavlo Klimkin and the foreign ministers of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, Latvia Edgars Rinkevičs, Estonia Sven Mikser, and Poland Jacek Czaputowicz were planning to visit Mariupol today.
According to a press release from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the diplomats “planned to get acquainted with the current social and economic situation, complicated by Russian aggression, in particular the creation of obstacles to freedom of navigation through the Kerch Strait to the ports of Berdyansk and Mariupol. The ministers also wanted to familiarize themselves with the difficult security situation caused by Russian aggression in Donbass.”
