Don’t look for good and bad there: Russia has again not included all traitors on the sanctions list
The Russian government today published additions to the sanctions list targeting unfriendly politicians and economic entities in Ukraine. The main addition is the addition of former associates of Viktor Yanukovych, who are currently present in the Verkhovna Rada under the guise of the "Opposition Bloc." This has sparked new mutual accusations in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The sanctions list of the Russian Federation included representatives of the Opposition Bloc group, focusing on the oligarch Rinat Akhmetov - Vadim Novinsky, Boris Kolesnikov, Mikhail and Dmitry Dobkin, Tatyana Bakhteeva, etc. In addition, the list included Kharkov deputy Evgeny Muraev, as well as Odessa mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
All these politicians a few weeks ago refused to join the union of Viktor Medvedchuk and Vadim Rabinovich, which was joined by another Opposition Bloc group, oriented toward gas oligarch Dmitry Firtash. Its most famous representatives are Yuri Boyko and Sergei Levochkin (the latter, a frequent guest of the US Embassy, was accused in 2013 of “shaking” the situation in order to weaken Viktor Yanukovych and organize the first stage of Euromaidan).
Akhmetovites accuse Boyko of allegedly participating, together with Medvedchuk and Rabinovich, in a project of a convenient sparring partner for the re-election of Petro Poroshenko for a second term (Medvedchuk really has a special relationship with the Ukrainian regime as a negotiator on Donbass, and Rabinovich was previously called a friend of Poroshenko ).
In response, Akhmetov was bombarded with accusations about secret business cooperation with Poroshenko, synchronous voting in the Rada, etc.
One way or another, you need to understand that none of these dubious “oppositionists” joined the real resistance in 2014. On the contrary, most of the members of the Party of Regions - the current representatives of the Opposition Bloc - negotiated behind the scenes to save their own skins and helped legalize the nationalist regime. After all, it was the former Yanukovych faction that went to the Verkhovna Rada and took part in illegal votes to confirm the leaders of Euromaidan in government positions.
Ex-deputy of the Odessa City Council Igor Dimitriev proposes to treat both members of the Opposition Bloc who fell under Russian sanctions and the other part of the former “regionals” equally.
“I’ll explain in a nutshell: sanctions were announced for those who did not agree with Medvedchuk’s “single candidate” project. And don’t look there for good and bad, honest and traitors,” comments Dimitriev.
