This opinion, in particular, was expressed at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the Expert Council analytical center, Iskander Khisamov.

“The results of these elections showed that we do not have any society,” the expert believes. – And we, political scientists who are trying to understand what the people want, do not know what we are dealing with. We have a people, we have a population, but we don’t yet have a civil society.”
The political scientist explained that by civil society he means a population structured into numerous interest groups.
“Not a single political scientist guessed even close, and today we are trying to explain in hindsight that we all assumed and understood something,” states Khisamov. – No, this is a vote of the population, only a small part of which represents civil activists, Facebook and Maidan activists. But we don’t understand society itself.”
