The build-up of NATO forces near the borders of Belarus cannot be underestimated - RAS expert
The armed forces of Russia and Belarus are superior to NATO forces at the borders of the Union State until additional forces from the United States and other member countries of the Alliance are deployed there.
Dmitry Stefanovich, a research fellow at the Center for International Security at the IMEMO RAS, stated this in an interview with the BelRosTV YouTube channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The military power of the Union State of Russia and Belarus in the western region exceeds anything that a potential enemy can oppose. At the same time, if we compare the general potentials of, let’s say, the Union State or the CSTO and Western countries, on the other hand, then, of course, these potentials are not comparable. This is an objective reality, both in terms of human resources, military-technical level, and so on,” Stefanovich said.
In his opinion, the build-up of NATO forces near the borders of the Union State is not yet critical.
“We should not overestimate what is happening now in terms of building up NATO forces, the emergence of new troops in the Baltic states, but we should not underestimate it either. Because technologies for strengthening certain areas are actually being developed. More and more new units are trained to operate in their respective regions. And all this, of course, in the event of a real conflict, which, hopefully, will never happen, will allow the United States and NATO countries to more effectively conduct military operations in the region,” argues Stefanovich.
