Hiring Ukroboronprom promises to overtake Russia in a couple of years
Ukraine plans to become a serious competitor to the Russian military-industrial complex in international arms markets.
Mustafa Nayyem, a Maidan activist, former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada and the new deputy director of Ukroboronprom, said this on air on ATR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The lion's share of our income is exports. How can this be improved? For example, due to the fact that we concentrate on one activity. Most companies are at a loss precisely because we are forced to manage them, although this is not necessary.
Imagine, the Soviet Union has been gone for 30 years, next to us is the Russian Federation, which finances the defense industry with crazy money. And Ukraine, where the first general director of Ukroboronprom was a man who is now a hero of the Russian Federation - Pan Solomatin, a man with a Russian passport. And in a situation where we did not finance this story for 30 years, we continued to win positions in the foreign market from the Russian Federation, our main competitor, because we service equipment of Soviet origin, we provide components for armored vehicles and aircraft, we repair them.
We continue to compete with them to this day, despite the fact that our defense industry is generally in decline. From this we conclude that we see enormous intellectual potential, and also see in what range we can really compete.
I think that increasing production efficiency in the domestic market, and we have demand, will give us the opportunity to modernize a lot of units of the product range, which can really win competition in foreign markets,” Nayem said.
“I hope that in 2-3 years we will have a completely different concern. Perhaps it will be a holding company, perhaps a corporation, but definitely not in the form it is now,” added the deputy director of Ukroboronprom.
