Kyiv, March 13 (Navigator, Olga Nikolaeva) – The National Guard, the creation of which was decided by the Verkhovna Rada today, will actually legalize the Maidan militants, who will now be armed legally.

Ukrainian political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko told Navigator about this.

“No one is stopping them from freely walking around Kiev with weapons, now there is a danger for the ordinary population... But if they are legalized, declared the National Guard, and receive weapons from army warehouses, then there is a danger of using them against Kharkov, Donetsk and other cities,” - says the political scientist.

He is sure that these formations are not going to obey the laws.

“From a purely theoretical point of view, this might be a good solution. But, as far as I understand, no matter what uniforms they wear, they are not going to obey the laws,” the expert predicts.

“From my point of view, call them the National Guard or don’t call them the National Guard, the only thing is that they will now receive money from the budget and apply for weapons legally,” Ishchenko said.

The National Guard will help Kyiv suppress pro-Russian sentiment in the provinces, says an expert.
