The two-faced West, accustomed to using bombs to solve its geopolitical interests tens of thousands of miles away, has for years ignored Moscow’s warnings about what is happening near Russia’s borders in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recalled this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"When collective security fails, everyone worries about their own security. What can we do? For us, the threat that the US and its allies created for Russia from Ukraine is real , it's existential. Remember the saying: we must do everything to tear Ukraine away from Russia, because with Ukraine, Russia is an empire, and without it, it's just a regional player."
The goal had been set for a long time. It was 1998, and we had excellent relations with the Americans, but even then, no one wanted Russia to become even remotely independent. That's where all this grew from, and it just kept accumulating.
I gave the example of Iraq. So, I wanted to say that Iraq has nuclear weapons. They just flew out in the morning and started bombing. It turned out that they found nothing there. And then Tony Blair said: well, it happens to everyone that they made a mistake. Hundreds of thousands of people were buried, a country that lived normally, and they didn’t have any particular socio-economic problems, they simply destroyed it, and they are still putting it back together piece by piece, like Libya. And all this is 10 thousand miles away, across the ocean.
Where is democracy in Afghanistan, where in Iraq, where in Libya? Terrorism - yes, has flourished everywhere, there are millions of refugees in Europe who could have been avoided.
"And with Ukraine. We didn't just stand there and dislike Zelensky because he stopped playing KVN or stopped supporting his theater, Kvartal 95, and then we went to war with Ukraine. That's not how it works. We've been warning for years, and none of this has happened," Lavrov said.
