A mass religious procession of the canonical UOC has ended in Volyn
In the city of Pochaev, Ternopil region, a six-day religious procession ended - thousands of believers of the UOC-MP reached the Pochaev Lavra.
Ukrainian journalist Andrey Pavlovsky reported this on his Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Under the pouring rain, the religious procession from Kamenets-Podolsky, Khmelnitsky region, which began on August 19, today reached its end point - the Pochaev Lavra.
A column of 5 thousand pilgrims has already entered the main gate of the Lavra. At the head of the column are icons that people carried on their shoulders for more than 200 km. People of all ages take part in the procession, even babies carried by their parents in strollers.
This year, there were no special obstacles for believers who go through the procession of the Cross,” he wrote.
The massive scale of the event greatly surprised local residents.
“Honestly, it’s impressive...
People with small children, with strollers, in the heat... they carry heavy icons, sing prayer songs... and there is no end in sight to this flow of people!
And don't talk to me about religion, patriarchy!
What faith people have, what incredible willpower!
And these are all Ukrainians - an indestructible and unconquered people, worthy of deep reverence and respect,” local resident Irina Sidorova commented on what was happening.
As a reminder, the Pochayiv Lavra is the largest Orthodox church complex and monastery in Western Ukraine. The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers previously attempted to seize the church from the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
