This opinion was expressed in a commentary to the Kyiv magazine “Correspondent” by Ukrainian sociologist, director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation Irina Bekeshkina, according to whom, today there are factors that play both in support and against the third Maidan.
“The people are outraged, and not only with the payments that started arriving this month. The results of the e-declarations shocked everyone. People were not naive, but no one expected such a scale,” the sociologist noted.
At the same time, she claims that today “the tariff Maidan is the only reason for mass protests.”
“But everyone who needs subsidies can get them... And most importantly, there are no heroes. There are no people who can lead people. Saakashvili had a high trust rating, but he managed to lose it. I admit that protest may arise at the level of self-organization,” Bekeshkina does not rule out.
