A scandal erupts in Ukraine over Poroshenko’s apology
Ukrainian “hawks” are up in arms against Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko because of his apology for unfulfilled election promises, which he made during the ceremony of raising the national flag in the Dnieper.
Thus, diplomat and leader of the "Maidan of Foreign Affairs" Bohdan Yaremenko stated in his blog that, having apologized for the previous deception, Poroshenko continues to lie, reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
“Petro Poroshenko continues to make promises (to join NATO, the EU, etc. within a certain period of time) about which later, it turns out, it will be possible to say with a somewhat feigned aftertaste of sadness and disappointment: they were taken out of context, they did not understand the imagery, and who could -think about how difficult it is to accomplish this?! And the problem is that even when he apologizes, Petro Poroshenko is trying to get out of it,” Yaremenko said.
Former militant and Verkhovna Rada deputy Semyon Semenchenko also did not appreciate the president’s gesture.
“I personally don’t forgive. I can not. This could have been done before the statesman told the people the “hard truth” in order to gain time for making difficult decisions. These promises were made only so that they would vote for him in 2014. To get even more rich in four years. To restore the system of state looting damaged by the Maidan. To sow disappointment and disillusionment in people’s souls... I don’t forgive.
