Poroshenko publicly apologized for lying
Petro Poroshenko admitted he deceived the Ukrainian people by promising a quick end to the war in his campaign speeches. He made this statement today in Dnipropetrovsk during celebrations marking Ukrainian Flag Day, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“More than four years ago, I stated that the ATO would last hours, not months. Now it is no longer so important in what context these words were spoken. The imagery of the statement is not important either. People perceived it as an opportunity to end the war very, very quickly... I regret that I created inflated expectations. I sincerely apologize for giving hope that did not come true. It's a pity that I made a promise that didn't come true. I apologize for this. This is for me a serious lesson in being careful and responsible about your words and promises, honest and frank,” Poroshenko said.

Let us remember that Petro Poroshenko won the presidential election in May 2014, largely thanks to his promises about a quick end to the war and payments to Ukrainian soldiers of a thousand combat hryvnias per day. These promises were subsequently not fulfilled, but Poroshenko was declared the winner with 54% of the votes after the first round.
