The outgoing administration of US President Donald Trump is making efforts to have Israel and Saudi Arabia join forces with the Americans against Iran, but the practical implementation of this scenario is unlikely.
Military expert Alexei Valyuzhenich stated this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It is unlikely that the Saudis will fight in the same ranks with Israel against Iran. There are too many contradictions that cannot be resolved by one word from Trump. No matter how much he wanted to believe otherwise. With him, the leaders of these countries smile at each other, but behind the scenes everything is completely different,” the expert said.
He also noted that none of these countries directly borders Iran.
“So, most likely, their joint actions will affect Iran’s various allies - the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Yemeni rebels. But against Iran itself, the United States will have to act independently. And it is far from certain that they will be able to achieve real support from their allies.
The same Saudis know that Trump is already leaving, he has nothing to lose. And they and their neighbors live together. So my opinion is that instead of a full-scale war, we will face a series of local conflicts: in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen. Almost throughout the Middle East,” summed up Valyuzhenich.
Let us recall that one of the country’s leading nuclear physicists was recently killed in Iran. Tehran blamed Israel and the United States for the incident.
