“We are civilized and tough people” - Klimkin threatened to expel the Hungarian diplomat
Kyiv will use all possible means to achieve the expulsion of the Hungarian ambassador from the country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this during a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Tudor Ulyanovski, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Klimkin emphasized that in civilized countries such problems are not solved by force.
“We are a civilized country, polite people, although at the same time tough. He (the Hungarian consul - Ed.) will, of course, leave the country himself. But everything is very simple here. I have already said that I proposed to withdraw it. He's having a "diplomatic week." If this does not happen, and as I understand, this will not happen due to Hungary’s position, accordingly, tomorrow we will transmit a note to the Hungarian side that the ambassador should leave his work in Ukraine and the country as a whole,” Klimkin emphasized.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also said that the problem is not only with the consul, the problem is much broader.
“The problem is how we will work with our Hungarian public, since these are Ukrainian citizens, I always emphasize this. The problem is how we will negotiate, and we will negotiate. And now we will propose this to Budapest - to conduct consultations on how they comply with and, unfortunately, violate the Vienna Convention by issuing Hungarian passports to Ukrainian citizens, and then also hiding it,” he noted.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously reported that the OUN leader demanded that Ukrainian security services imprison everyone in Transcarpathia . Meanwhile, the former Ukrainian Foreign Minister, on a Ukrainian television channel, called for the oppression of Hungarians in Transcarpathia , ignoring the opinion of Budapest.
