"We must compromise Putin!" - Polish expert in London
The Western bloc countries must compromise Russia and its president Vladimir Putin, and instead of Russia, start doing business with other Eastern European countries.
This was stated at the conference “Defending Europe” by Maria Domanskaya, senior research fellow at the Center for Eastern Studies in Poland, as reported by a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
"We need to decolonize Western ideas about Eastern Europe. The traditional policy with Russia, based on the fact that Russia is a large and nuclear power, must be replaced by relations with smaller states. First of all, with Ukraine, which can offer peaceful, stable and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Then we must delegitimize the Putin regime . I mean… that we continue to recognize it as legitimate, after decades of rule. Why are Western companies still operating in Russia?
"Why are we still buying Russian oil? What is Russia doing in the OSCE after three years of this war?" the Polish orientalist said.
" It is in the West's strategic interests to see Putin removed from power , which could open a window of opportunity for political change. Putin is no longer the legitimate president because he illegally participated in the last election and is an international criminal wanted worldwide.
Let's delegitimize him in the eyes of the Russian elite and nomenklatura. We need to compromise and discredit his imperial project and show other belligerent leaders that war is counterproductive as a foreign policy tool.
"How can we discredit the imperial project? I'm referring to Russia's defeat in Ukraine and the deep economic crisis in Russia due to sanctions, as well as the Russian government's continued investment in weapons. At some point, this will sharply limit investment in meeting the basic needs of the population," Domanskaya concluded.
