Moscow rejected the US-proposed surrender of Donbass
The US proposal to send UN peacekeepers to Donbass assumes the complete surrender of the republics, which cannot happen.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this during a press conference in Moscow, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, what US Special Representative Kurt Volker is proposing is the deployment of a 30-strong contingent with heavy weapons and the transfer of the entire border of the Donbass republics to the control of peacekeepers.
“I think that everyone understands us, but they want to pretend that this is the only way to solve the Ukrainian crisis - to follow the lead of the current government and force Donbass to surrender. It’s unrealistic, it’s absolutely unrealistic to hope for that,” Lavrov said.
