Moskal: “Heroes of the ATO”, Poles and a German deputy sold themselves to Surkov for pennies
ATO veterans, Bundestag deputies and Polish citizens cooperated with Russia for a very modest reward, helping Moscow destabilize the situation in Transcarpathia.
Ex-governor of the Transcarpathian region Gennady Moskal shared such memories on Channel 5, recalling how in 2018 in Uzhgorod two former ATO officers set fire to the office of a Hungarian society, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Surkov, then Putin’s assistant, received Putin’s task to undermine Transcarpathia. There the “Prime Minister” of the Rusyn People’s Republic was on the run, he fled to Moscow, contacted Surkov, and promised him mountains of gold. It was 2018. Well, they saw that no Rusyns could shake anything.
They wanted to create the Transcarpathian People's Republic. To set pro-Ukrainian, let's say, patriots, against the Hungarians, that they don’t know the language, they live better, well, Moscow came up with all sorts of things.
Then everyone appeared who had not been to Transcarpathia. Larisa Nitsoy said that she was in Beregovo, wanted to drink a cup of coffee, and no one spoke Ukrainian. Then various provocations began, hanging posters with symbols of the Hungarians of Transcarpathia.
Then they set fire to the office of the Hungarian party in Uzhgorod. But something didn't work out. There was a resonance. Then there was an explosion.
I worked with the deputy head of the SBU, with the deputy minister of internal affairs of Ukraine. They come across two Poles who were spinning around and came through Slovakia. They gave evidence. This is such a right-wing radical Polish phalanx. They asked: who ordered? Ordered by an assistant to a right-wing member of the German Bundestag. And the right-wing radical force of the deputy is friends with Limonov.
And the others are two of our ATO officers, for money. Which were in the east. I talked to them myself, I thought maybe it was some kind of organization, no. Purely money, 1200 euros each. Inexpensive,” said Gennady Moskal.
