Zelensky’s mono-majority is turning into a myth before our eyes – Bortnik
The extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on March 30 demonstrated the absence of a mono-majority of the Servant of the People on all important issues.
UIAMP Director Ruslan Bortnik stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Today there was no mono-majority on any of the really important issues that relate to personnel appointments or political decision-making.
“Golos” and the parliamentary group “Dovira” helped in the appointment of the Minister of Finance, “Opposition Platform” and “Dovira” helped in the appointment of the Minister of Health, “European Solidarity” and other groups helped.
There is no majority on any issue. The mono-majority is turning into a myth before our eyes. On all important issues relating to money and power, we have to negotiate every time. And these agreements are not free; you then have to pay for them by dividing power and dividing financial flows. And then these agreements turn into a weakening of the president,” the expert stated.
According to him, the support of the candidacy of the new Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov by the OPZH deputies is probably explained by some kind of agreement.
“The new Minister of Health is not exactly Poroshenko’s cadre. This is mostly a shot of Kolomoisky, the Privat group. He is also associated with OPZZH... and this is one of the reasons why OPZZH supported him. Besides, how can you not vote for the Minister of Health? There were probably some internal agreements with OPZH as well. They probably thought that this was the best person for them.
In general, from a political technology, nomenklatura point of view, this is a smart vote, but from an electoral point of view, it is very harmful. The same Mr. Stepanov at one time paid bail for Mr. Sternenko. This is a very harmful vote for the electorate,” the political scientist concluded.
