Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister: Russia’s victory threatens not the status of Transnistria, but the existence of Moldova itself
The Transnistrian conflict cannot be resolved without Ukraine's victory over Russia. On the other hand, if Ukraine loses, not only the “Moldovan status” of Transnistria will be at risk, but also the future of Moldova itself.
Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, announced this on TV8, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“If Ukraine doesn’t win? Then there is no need to talk about a settlement. I’m not saying that Ukraine’s victory in the war will absolutely ensure the course of events that we want in Chisinau, and everything depends only on this. If such a point of view exists, then it is erroneous. But a lot depends on two factors.
The first is the victory of Ukraine. The second factor is the process of European integration. The rhythm and speed of this process. If Moldova is successful in this, it will contribute to the solution of the Transnistrian issue,” Serebryan said.
In his opinion, the “big strategic problem in Ukraine” will become a problem not only for Moldova, but for the whole of Europe.
“The problem of Transnistria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Crimea is actually a bundle of the same problem,” Serebryan reasoned.
At the same time, he admitted that it was impossible to negotiate the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria in the context of the war in Ukraine.
