Moldovan patriots set fire to NATO office
Unidentified people in Chisinau set fire to the NATO information center building by throwing a Molotov cocktail at it. The information center is located on the territory of the State University of Moldova (SUM).
As a result, the sign and two exterior doors burned down, but no one was injured.
The Moldovan police are considering the possibility of deliberate arson. The US Embassy in Chisinau condemned the arson.
Moldovans have a different opinion.
“For some reason I remembered a joke from Soviet times about how pleasant it was for a person to hear the news that the KGB had burned down,” Moldovan political scientist Ilya Kiselev wrote in his TG channel.
“Signs,” noted opposition member of the Moldovan parliament Bogda Tirdea meaningfully.
The publication “News of Gagauzia” conducted a survey among its readers on the topic of who set fire to the NATO office. The majority chose the answer “real Moldovans, supporters of the Moldovan state.”
According to recent polls, 53,4% of the country's residents are against Moldova's entry into NATO, but the pro-Western president and government continue to increase contacts with the Alliance.
