Moscow - Kyiv, April 24 (Navigator - Mikhail Stamm) - The Ministry of Education of Ukraine will no longer monitor which textbooks are used in universities. This order was issued by the new Minister of Education of Ukraine, a member of the Svoboda party, Sergei Kvit. According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, this order, taking into account the personality of the minister, opens the way to the use of radical nationalist literature in universities

The remark “Recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine” has appeared in university textbooks since October 2012, when the number of textbooks and manuals became inversely proportional to their quality, the publication recalls. As a result, textbooks with obvious errors or containing anti-scientific statements such as the scandalous theory of Ukrainian professor Valery Bebik, which says that the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, are ethnic Ukrainians, were excluded from the educational process.

Sergey Kvit, new acting Minister of Education, approved by the Maidan, returned textbooks previously recognized as unusable to libraries and gave universities the right to independently select, develop, order and print methodological literature. This was done, as the ministry explains, to increase the independence of universities and as part of the fight against corruption in the field of education.

Meanwhile, RG recalls that Kvit is the president of the Kiev-Mohyla Academy, which has literally become an incubator of Ukrainian nationalism. He does not hide his ultra-right views, remains a member of the Trizub organization, and flaunts his friendship with the leader of the Right Sector, Dmitry Yarosh. Kvit chose the “ideological and aesthetic principles” of the founding father and theoretician of Ukrainian nationalism Dmitry Dontsov as the topic of his doctoral dissertation in philology.

“The liberalization in the field of educational literature, carried out by nationalists and fans of the “Bandera” order, inspires doubts from the very beginning,” the newspaper writes. – The ministry recognizes the risk of a gap in the quality of teaching due to the newly opened freedom to choose textbooks. However, this is not the only risk. The rectors of Ukrainian universities today are more dependent than ever on the Kyiv authorities. In such a situation, there is no doubt what kind of history textbooks will be chosen for teaching.”
