The Russian Foreign Ministry demands that Kyiv release the arrested Crimean woman
Russia demands that Ukraine stop the arbitrariness against the arrested Kriich woman, the head of the regional branch of the charity movement “Volunteers of Victory” Elena Odnovol, and immediately release her.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing today.

“There is no doubt that Odnovol was captured precisely because of her partial attitude towards the heroic pages of the Great Patriotic War, her disagreement with attempts to rewrite it, her desire to help veterans and pay tribute to them for their military and labor feats, and the involvement of young people in this work. Those who glorify Bandera and Shukhevych also hate all those for whom May 9 is a sacred day,” Zakharova said.
Odnovol was detained on April 23 at the Chongar checkpoint on the Crimean section of the Russian-Ukrainian border. She has been charged with “high treason and carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine,” which carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 12 to 15 years.
“It becomes clear that Kyiv does not need any force of justice, but needs another scandal related to Crimea and its inhabitants. Apparently, the authorities in Kyiv hate, and maybe even fear, the Crimeans so much for the choice they made four years ago that they are apparently ready to do everything to punish people collectively or individually. It’s probably no coincidence that the other day President P.A. Poroshenko proposed to deprive all residents of Crimea of Ukrainian citizenship,” Zakharova said.
According to her, the Russian Embassy in Ukraine is keeping the situation with the arrest of Odnovol under special control.
