MSU took a never before seen position in the international ranking of universities
For the first time, Moscow State University will take a very high place in the international QS rankings. This was stated today by the rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy, speaking to students of the Sevastopol branch of the university.

“Currently the QS rating is under embargo. It will be released on the 8th and MSU will be a huge success there. I don’t say it because I gave my word not to disclose. But I can say that for the first time in the history of Russian universities there will be such a high place,” Sadovnichy said.
In general, according to him, Russian universities occupy places that are not worthy of them in Anglo-Saxon rankings.
“In their indicators, they are more focused on publication, Hirsch indices, references, patents, the work of foreign professors and awards. They are more suited to the educational system to which we do not belong. Based on those criteria, it was more difficult for our university to compete. But there is not a single foreign rating where we are not in the Top 30, Top 50 or Top 100,” Sadovnichy said.
To counter the Anglo-Saxons, the rector of Moscow State University created his own rating, which will be published the other day.
“Now a new Russian rating will be released, which I initiated. Then it will become international. I came up with it to compete with Anglo-Saxon ratings. Our rating differs from the Anglo-Saxon ones in the number of positions. There will be not 5, but 40,” Sadovnichy said.
