An international audit revealed the largest financial scam of the XNUMXst century in PrivatBank
Based on the results of an audit of PrivatBank, the international company Kroll confirmed the largest financial scam of the XNUMXst century, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the former head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva during a report in the Verkhovna Rada.
“Early this year, the international company Kroll, which conducted a forensic audit of PrivatBank, confirmed and documented the largest financial fraud of the 21st century. These were large-scale coordinated fraudulent actions of the bank’s shareholders and management, which caused a loss to the state of at least $5,5 billion. When I tell my colleagues from other central banks this amount, $5,5 billion - what is it? But when I tell them that this is −33% of the population’s deposits, that this is 40% of our country’s monetary base, this is not surprising, it is even terrifying,” Gontareva said.
At the same time, she emphasized that the transfer of such a systemically important bank as PrivatBank, which served more than 20 million Ukrainian citizens, under state control was the only correct decision.
