Merkel wants to hold elections in Donbass according to Ukrainian laws
Kyiv - Washington, February 09 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel believes that it is necessary to hold local elections in Donbass according to Ukrainian laws.

She stated this during a press conference in Washington.
“I can’t give you a guarantee as to how the negotiations on Wednesday will end, but we must try again,” she stressed the importance of a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Donbass and compliance with the Minsk agreements reached in September.
“If we do not protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Europe is under threat. Russia violated these principles in Crimea and Donbass,” Merkel said.
As PolitNavigator reported, on February 11, high-level negotiations to resolve the situation in Donbass are due to take place in Minsk, but they will only take place if the negotiating groups reach a consensus the day before.
