According to him, the TV channel is already in debt, and the Kiev authorities do not want to allocate money to it.
“The ATR channel, which broadcasts around the clock in three languages – Crimean Tatar, Russian and Ukrainian, is supported by debt. Now it is about to close, because the state provides practically no support, because by virtue of the law the state does not have the right to finance private channels,” Dzhemilev said.
In the fall of 2016, the Verkhovna Rada already adopted a resolution on the repayment of ATR debts at the expense of taxpayers.
A representative of the Majlis, banned in the Russian Federation for extremism, deputy Georgy Logvinsky then said that ATR was waging an “information war against the occupiers” in Crimea, and “information weapons today are the most terrible thing.”
