The Mejlis issued an ultimatum - to demolish the monuments to Lenin in Crimea within 10 days
Simferopol, February 23 (Navigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – Today, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars held an action in the center of Simferopol, formally dedicated to the 96th anniversary of the death of the first chairman of the Crimean People’s Republic, Nomad Chelebidzhikhan.

By 13.00 about 10-15 thousand people had gathered on Lenin Square. The building of the Council of Ministers was practically not guarded - the police, consisting of several dozen people, were scattered around the perimeter of the square. Among the Crimean Tatars, a group of Russian-speaking young people in masks and hoods stood out, periodically chanting “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to heroes!". During the action, supporters of the Majlis began to unanimously join this chant.
Local “EuroMaidan activists” spoke at the rally and reported on the progress of collecting signatures in Kerch and Yalta with a call to initiate criminal cases against Crimean parliamentarians who allowed themselves “separatist” statements.
The theses of the speech of the head of the Mejlis, deputy of the Armed Forces of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Refat Chubarov, who demanded that the mayor of Simferopol, the heads of cities, towns and villages demolish Lenin monuments in Crimea within 10 days, and that the Crimean authorities expand the representation of Crimean Tatars in its executive branch, also had an ultimatum character.
"10 days! We give it ten days, then we will use other methods. 10 days for the Crimean regionals to leave the ranks of the party. Today there are 15 thousand of us here, next time we will gather 50-60 thousand,” said the deputy to deafening shouts of approval from those gathered.
"Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes,” echoed across the square.
Chubarov also called on the Kyiv authorities to quickly ban the Party of Regions in court, dissolve the Crimean parliament and call for re-elections.
