Medvedev resigned and became Putin's deputy
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced his resignation along with the entire government.
Medvedev said this after a meeting with President Vladimir Putin an hour after the announcement of the head of state’s message to the Federal Assembly.
“I ask you to fulfill your duties in full until a new government is formed,” Putin addressed the ministers present.
According to him, Medvedev will receive a new position that did not exist before in Russia - deputy chairman of the Security Council.
“The chairman, as you know, is the president,” Putin said.
“Medvedev, in fact, is the vice president,” comments political scientist Alexei Chesnakov.
