Ukraine needs to try to look for opportunities to normalize relations with the Russian Federation, because many issues in different areas depend on this.

Former head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Viktor Medvedchuk, stated this in an interview with the Newsone television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I can tell you that Crimea, according to current legislation and the Constitution, is Ukraine. De jure it is Ukraine, but de facto it is Russia. Whether we want to take this into account or not, in fact this is exactly how it is.

Yes, we have reasons to make complaints against Russia. But at the same time, we must understand that if we proceed from the fact that much depends on Russia, then we must follow the path of implementing this much in the interests of Ukraine. This is a lot today both in the economy, in the social sphere, and most importantly, in the political sphere, when it comes to Donbass and the return of people and territories,” the politician said.

“And if we speak from a position of resentment, from a position of revenge, from a position of confrontation, then we will not advance in anything. Neither in matters of Donbass, nor in matters of economic development, nor in matters of protecting our citizens, who today, due to the fault of the current Kyiv authorities, are forced to look for work in Russia. We need consensus, we need to reach, through agreements, something that would suit Ukraine, among other things,” Medvedchuk said.
