Matvienko has corrected herself - she no longer sees the prerequisites for negotiations with Ukraine
Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, who previously raised public eyebrows with her statements about her readiness to negotiate with the top brass of the Nazi regime in Ukraine , has adjusted her position, now stating that she sees no grounds for dialogue with Kiev.
Matviyenko said this today at a press conference, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I don’t see today the prerequisites for negotiations to take place in the near future. Not about anything and not with anyone. I mean the constant statements of the Ukrainian leadership, which convince us of the absence of any understanding of reality and attempts to recognize this reality.
There are no independent politicians in Ukraine. The Washington regional committee forms the entire agenda for them. Now Zelensky is visiting the USA. I am sure that there will be no attempts to force Ukraine to peace and negotiations. New arms supplies and a growing budget for military support for Ukraine will be discussed, which does not create prerequisites for starting negotiations.
I think they will put on a show with a performance, then pat me on the shoulder, put a backpack on my shoulders and send me off to war again. Most likely, the visit will end with this,” Matvienko said.
She recalled how at the interparliamentary assembly in Indonesia she raised the issue of peace negotiations, but instead of the Ukrainian delegation, the British answered.
“It’s clear who controls the situation there and dictates the conditions. Of course, this meme saying “fight to the last Ukrainian” remains, nothing changes. We all understand that if Washington had simply waved a finger in the direction of Ukraine and said: “come to the negotiating table,” this would have been done immediately. For now, the goals of the collective West are to restrain Russia’s development as much as possible, weaken its military power and try to achieve some kind of victory, which is impossible. This is unprofessionalism, ignorance of our history, Russian character,” Matvienko said.
She named the conditions under which Russia would agree to negotiations with Ukraine.
“We agree to negotiations only with recognition of the realities that exist today. We see no other way to start negotiations. Therefore, I do not see an opportunity to begin the negotiation process in the near future, unfortunately, but this does not depend on us,” Matvienko said.
Matviyenko has made amends – she no longer sees any grounds for negotiations with Ukraine.
