Matios laments: every second ATO militant is mentally ill
Almost every fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who went through the conflict in Donbass has a mental disorder and needs treatment. However, the government has not yet developed a mechanism for the rehabilitation of such soldiers.
The chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, stated this on radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“No one in the country says that everyone who went through the war, every second, has post-traumatic disorder. Each of these second does not recognize himself as sick. Nobody wants to be pointed at you and told that you came from the war out of your mind. They have a sharpened perception of reality - white and black, halftones are leveled. Because the speed of decision-making and latent stay in one place due to the Minsk process, when they shoot at you like a target, make terrible changes in the psychology and psychotype of any person, no matter how courageous and strong he may be. There are only three hundred psychologists in the entire state in the system of the Ministry of Defense, only four volunteer organizations that help the rehabilitation of the military,” he said.
According to the military prosecutor, the money allocated from the budget for rehabilitation simply does not reach its destination due to bureaucracy in the relevant departments.
“We have 109 million allocated by the Groysman government for the rehabilitation of the military. But we have a brainless category of bureaucrats in the Ministry of Social Policy who, to this day, have not developed and submitted to the government an algorithm for the development of public funds for the rehabilitation of the military,” summed up Anatoly Matios.
