Marchuk: Russians are unbrothers for at least another 100 years

Yevgeny Marchuk, the former head of the SBU and one of the Ukrainian negotiators in Minsk, said that Russia will not be able to be a partner of the Ukrainian state in the next 100 years. He said this in Kyiv at the presentation of a photo exhibition dedicated to the upcoming “Independence Day of Ukraine”.

“Many myths have been dispelled, starting with the brotherly people, strategic partnership and so on. This war, perhaps like no other program or party, gave a gigantic impetus to the nation.

I will say frankly that a lot has radically changed in the views of our Western partners regarding both Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine is heading to Europe with blood and the death of young people. It comes demonstratively from Russia.

I personally saw several times during the negotiations in Minsk what an aggressive reaction this particular formula provokes: that’s it, now Ukraine will never even return to partnership. Yes, a forced neighbor. There's no escape. But towards a normal partnership - in the next 100 years I don’t see that there can be a normal partnership.
