President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is creating a private army that will have to defend his results in the elections scheduled for August 9th. This suggests that he does not trust the state security forces, who will not speak out in support of the president, and is preparing to become the head of the junta.
Political scientist Andrei Suzdaltsev stated this on the PolitWera internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In any case, he flies out. Even if he takes and deploys troops, firstly, the troops will not follow him. Today he signed a decree on some private company... a private security company that has the right to weapons. That is, he doesn’t trust the security forces, he’s creating his own army, you know? He's going to fight back.
But even so, the security forces helped him, suppressed everyone, on August 9th he got (victory) and the like. This is the junta, because here he already depends on the security forces. He can no longer rule alone, they provided for him.
But they have nothing to lose, they will take the soul out of him there. There won’t be that old Belarus, there won’t be this regime anymore and there won’t be that same Lukashenko, that’s it, in any format,” Suzdaltsev said.
