Lukashenko demands preferences from the Russian Federation and boasts of “good relations” with the junta
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko criticized the state of affairs in the Eurasian Union, saying that Minsk faces a number of restrictions. At the same time, Lukashenko cited cooperation with the nationalist regime of Ukraine, against which the Russian Federation applies economic sanctions, as a positive example.
“Unfortunately, the process of Eurasian integration is turning back, if it hasn’t already. They report to me about barriers, obstacles and restrictions for our business entities. And the lack of concrete work to eliminate them is covered up by some kind of digital agenda,” Lukashenko’s press service quotes him as saying, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, Lukashenko added that the CIS region remains the key market for Belarus. “Here I will add Ukraine and Georgia, with which we have a large scale and volume of trade and good relations,” said the head of Belarus.
Lukashenko also repeated the theses of the so-called. “multi-vector”, actively exploited in Ukraine by the regime of Viktor Yanukovych shortly before his overthrow.
“The unique position at the junction of the EAEU and the EU is bound to bring benefits to Belarus. Ideally, the western and eastern vectors of Belarusian foreign policy should balance each other,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
